Notice of Intent to Apply for Funds from Rural Development/Statement of Activities for HPG Funds

Habitat for Humanity’s vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our mission is to put love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Clinch River Habitat for Humanity of an ecumenical ministry that builds, repairs, and rehabilitates simple decent and affordable houses with participating families; working with diverse individuals, businesses, organizations, and faith communities to serve others in Anderson and Roane Counties. Over the past 30 years, more than 100 new homes have been constructed for families and 100 homes repaired for low-income homeowners.

Clinch River Habitat for Humanity (CRHFH) is making application to USDA Rural Development, Housing Preservation Grant to secure funds used for making much needed repairs for both Anderson and Roane County families currently living in substandard housing. If USDA-RD Housing Preservation Grant funds are approved, CRHFH will provide affordable home rehabilitation services for low- and moderate-income residents of Anderson and Roane County. Each participant will receive a grant for the project.  Priority is given to families with members over the age of 60, disabled or veterans.

Individuals/Families must complete an application for assistance, provide income verification for all residents, evidence of homeownership and documentation property taxes and homeowners insurance are paid. Applicants over the age of 60, have a disability or are veterans will receive priority. Funds will be first come, first serve unless there are multiple eligible applicants. If there are more applicants than funding will aid, Habitat will establish a priority list.  

CRHFH will apply for funds HPG funds in July 2022. Notice of the grant award should be made by September 2022.  Two public meetings will be held, one in Roane County and another in Anderson County, to allow residents the opportunity to complete the application and request information in person. A timeline will be distributed outlining the time dedicated to inspections, environmental reviews, administrative requirements, and construction period.
